April 7th 1882. [14. Hyde Park Gate. W.]
My dear Lady Thompson,
I was so sorry not to be able to say you good bye on Wednesday. When I came in the Hall, you were already gone. I intended then yesterday to call on you, as your kind [?] told me about your |2| going away. I am sorry, that I could not tell you all my good wishes for you in person, and that I could not shake hands you with you and thank you most warmly for your kind present, which is so useful, and handsome at the same time.
Accept for your dear family and for yourself my kindest |3| greetings and believe me for ever yours very sincerely
Marie sends her best love.
